The color of happiness
For Andrea Langensiepen, the impetus for her artistic work is the question of how the new comes into the world. In her preferred format, painting, she can pursue her enthusiasm for colors and forms as well as their composition in an open process. She detaches herself from the superficial, the visible and searches for what lies beneath the surface. Detaching from the existing gives creative creations the space to grow.

About me

Andrea Langensiepen About Me Image

Art is her cosmos and painting a ceremony. Andrea Langensiepen has been concerned all her life with the question of how the new comes into the world.

"Insatiable curiosity is the trait that shapes me the most. The question of how the new comes into the world and how man comes up with unprecedented ideas has been driving me all my life.

What actually constitutes our creativity, how does it arise, and what do we actually do with the freedom of design? Shapes can fascinate me and colors inspire me, but I am even more gripped and captivated by answers to pressing questions: What is art? What is creation? What gives us the power to create something new? What is visible? And what is there, although it is not visible?

For me, art is the secret of letting go, of breaking free from the usual interpretive frameworks. The artist must free himself, come into the flow. I am flowed through by feelings, non-thoughts, impulses, intuitions that lead me away on a great journey, whose paths and goals I only get to know when they reveal themselves to me.

This creative act, this is my odyssey through all realities."

In monumental works, the Austrian painter Andrea Langensiepen sends us viewers on daring heroic journeys through a world of myths. In her narrative, however, she does not use the familiar narrative style, the figures of the world of the Greek gods, as we know them from the traditional illustrations handed down to us, but uses the art of Informel, the flowing forms that evoke an echo in the imagination of the viewer who engages with them. She studied her art under none other than the prince of painters Markus Lüpertz at his Academy of Fine Arts in Kolbermoor. His free style, strongly oriented towards the eruptions of the unconscious, can also be felt in some of Langensiepen's powerful works, which appeal to the viewer. Whether you like them or not, either way they leave a strong impression, a visual experience, like a hero's journey into unknown territories. The magic of the moment ✨Full of joy, pride and gratitude. I am still overwhelmed by the huge turnout for the "Ethereal Kaleidoscope" vernissage at the @tourismusschulenamwildenkaiser. It makes me happy to be able to give young people access to art and perhaps encourage the creativity of some of them in this way. The exhibition can be visited in the impressive premises of the tourism schools in St. Johann until 31.01.24.
